Barium Ferrite tape is simply better than Metal particle tape. Anticipating the limitation of the ordinary tape technology by Metal Particle (MP) and the vast increase in data capacity needs, higher transfer rate and higher data integrity by end users, in 1992 Fujifilm has started its research on Barium Ferrite (BaFe) technology. Fujifilm has compared the BaFe, MP and other technology and has come to a conclusion with a proof in its own testing, that BaFe is the best option to strengthen Tape as the future proof technology in storage. It took 19 years until the first BaFe tape product came out in the market on 2011 with Oracle’s T10000-C tape drive at 5TB native capacity, and thereafter BaFe was applied to IBM TS1140 (4TB), LTO6 (2.5TB), Oracle T10000-D (8.5TB), IBM TS1150 (10TB) and LTO7 (6TB). See what makes difference.
